Blogging. It's been on my mind for a long time. To many of you, it's 'old hat', but I'm a novice, so here we go!
A good place to start is with a little Merriman up-date. Jake and I moved to Cheyenne, WY. on February 14th of this year. It's hard to believe that we have lived here for close to seven months already. Jake took an associate pastor position at Cheyenne Evangelical Free Church. He is enjoying his role as "Equipping Pastor". Among other things, he teaches adult Sunday School, leads worship, and preaches when the pulpit is 'free'!
I have recently started working as the Client Services Coordinator at the pregnancy care center, where I'd been volunteering since March. I thought that I would be looking for a teaching job this fall, but God had other plans. I am loving my new job, and it is confirming my desire to go into counseling. It is stretching me and growing me in new ways, and I am glad to have an opportunity to connect with women outside of the church.
Aside from being busy with our jobs/ministries, we are both enjoying discovering "the West"! This summer especially, we've been taking advantage of being so close to Denver and to the Rockies. For this Swiss city girl, the "Big City" and Mountain combo makes me feel quite at home. We spent a week vacationing in Yellowstone with both of our families in July - we feel blessed that the in-in-laws get along so well, despite being from different countries! Having a good sense of humor brings people together!
