I rolled out of bed early on Easter morning to put the coq au vin, that I'd prepared the night before (almost starting a fire), in the crockpot. I showered, and came downstairs to enjoy a cup of coffee and morning chat with my mother-in-law while everyone else was still sleeping, when I noticed a text message on my cell phone from an unknown number, asking me what time church was. I ignored the message, as I typically do when they are from unfamiliar sources. The sender persisted, and my phone rang about 10 minutes later. This time, I answered it, and as I did so, recognized the sweet voice at the end of the line. "Hi, this is Michelle*. I was wondering what time church is this morning. I'd like to come". I tried not to sound too extatic when I gave my friend the information, and arranged a time to meet her. I hung up beaming. I had invited her to church the week before, thinking she wouldn't take me up on it, but God prompted her heart that morning, and she followed His leading. What a blessing it was, to worship, on Easter Sunday, with Michelle* standing next to me. Knowing her story, I felt priviledged to share in the joyous celebration of our resurrected Savior with her. After the service, she told me: "there's no where else I would have wanted to be today, than worshiping God with other people who love him". It made my Easter. After all, that's what it's all about - being His family to those who have none, and glorifying Him for what he has done.
